Fayetteville NC Photographer | Contemporary Portraits
Where to start…before I got into weddings I was really working on my portrait and lighting game. I draw a lot of inspiration from photographers like Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger and Peter Lindbergh, just like many other aspiring photographers.
These photographers are world class and they photograph Presidents and Celebrities and shoot the covers of magazines like Time, Vanity Fair and the RollingStone magazine.
I searched far and wide on information on how to produce work like these photographers. There are so many videos and information out there on how to produce the type of imagery that they create.
I turned to the internet for knowledge on lighting techniques and posing and how to work with people to get them to look their best in front of the camera.
I have so much work to do. It’s so humbling to look at their work. I try and diagnose their imagery and figure out how they set up their lights to create the soft and painterly light that I love so much.

It all comes down to putting in the work, getting in the reps, or the 10,000 hours until mastery.
I love being a wedding photographer and telling stories, but I also love grabbing an interesting subject in a cool location and creating one of a kind imagery.
**Note to self, put more work like this on the calendar.

Southern Pines Engagement Session | Fayetteville, NC Engagement Photographer
Happy new year! Wow where did 2018 go…
Wanted to start 2019 with a bang on the blog. So let me introduce Kara and Van. These two are getting married over the summer at the 305 trackside in Southern Pines and I can’t wait. I have never photographed a wedding there and I’m really excited to shoot there.
We had a few ideas on location for their Engagement session. Originally, there was an outside chance that we were going to do it in Washington DC, but the Government Shutdown ruined that idea. So we decided on Southern Pines, and I chose the Weymouth Center For The Arts.
It’s a great spot for an engagement session and I hear it is beautiful in the spring when the flowers start to bloom.
Enough rambling from me, here are some of my favorites from the session.
